Conference Weekend

Conference Weekend was peaceful and relaxing and memorable. The girls love conference because they earn prizes for listening and I make special treats. They earned bike lights and we also had a campfire dinner Saturday.
Conference was broadcast from a small room in the conference center. Only the speakers were in the room and they were all sitting several feet apart. The theme was the restoration since it was the 200 year anniversary from the first vision. The talks were doctrinal and historical and uplifting.
Sunday's session included a worldwide solemn assembly where President Nelson led us in a sacred Hosanna Shout. "The shout is a symbol of how the crowds reacted to Jesus during his triumphal entry into Jerusalem during the last week of His life. 'Hosanna to the Son of David: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.'" announced a new proclamation to the world. My favorite quote of the conference was from Jeffery R. Holland. Which is no surprise because he is my favorite.

"When we have conquered this—and we will—may we be equally committed to freeing the world from the virus of hunger, freeing neighborhoods and nations from the virus of poverty. May we hope for schools where students are taught—not terrified they will be shot—and for the gift of personal dignity for every child of God, unmarred by any form of racial, ethnic, or religious prejudice."
