Last Lagoon

The day before the girls went back to school we took them to Lagoon despite the pouring rain. It turned out to be one of our best Lagoon trips. No one was there. The rain didn't bother us. We walked on every ride and splashed in every puddle. We rode more rides in an hour than on a whole normal day. We had a lunch picnic in the car and we remember this fun day with a big smile!

10

Jayli is 10!! That blows my mind! We wanted to do a special party for this big birthday. We rented a foam machine and invited as many friends as she wanted. It was such a fun day. Her birthday landed on Labor Day this year so they didn't have school. We ordered mini crumble cookies and the Simpers came to party too. Jayli asked for a turquoise cake with black tiger stripes. She has very specific opinions and she has her own preferences now. She's getting so grown up! She has asked for a calling watch for years. But this year she finally got one because I felt like it was the perfect time. She can call and message me and Jake only. It helps me when we're not together and we need to communicate. She's so responsible and organized. She reads every single morning then promptly makes her bed, gets dressed and does her own hair in a high side pony. She loves books and reading about fantasy, especially dragons. She's so good at multiplication and loves cursive. She loves to draw. She will have you tell her 2 animals and she will make them into one mythical animal. She's a great artist. She doesn't ever put off school work. She is so self motivated and loves to get things done. She never has homework because she's so focused. Jayli is such a leader. Everyone loves her energy and optimism. She's loves crafts and basketball. She is so active and has a 6 pack just from laughing and playing. Dr. Rogers asked me if she was a competitive athlete. She has recently learned to hunt and loves to go with Jake. I'd say she's a daddy's girl. He is her hero and I don't hold it against her. He is the absolute best person to look up to. Jayli loves coconut syrup, strawberries, cucumbers, goose, aug rotten potatoes. She loves gyoza at Takara and we ate there for her birthday dinner. She's so imaginative and has an adventurous heart. I would keep her this age forever! She's fun to talk to and chat with. She's my best friend. I am so so lucky to have my Jayli.

Back to school

The night before school started we took the girls to Texas Roadhouse for our back to school dinner. We ordered stakes and appetizers and soda. They were on cloud 9. I'm having a very emotional time thinking about them being in school all day. I'm bitter than a complete stranger gets to have them for 6 hours every day! I miss them and want to be with them and see what they're learning and doing and if kids are being kind. Kynli especially is the one I worry about. She's so tender and I worry she will forget what she's supposed to be doing. She hasn't been at school all day before. I know I'm a helicopter mom but I just want to know every influence in their life, not someone else. I feel like I'm sharing custody of my children. I hurts my heart so much. But I know it's good for them to be on their own and struggle and have to do hard things without me. I pray they will always have good friends and positive influences. Jayli has Mrs. Hintze and Kynli has Mrs. Francis. I plan to volunteer as much as possible. I still have Charli at home with me all the time except when she goes to Owl Tree Tues/Thurs for 2 hours. I'm startled by this time in my life when my children aren't under my wing 24/7. Having them to myself for over a year made it harder to let them go. I know they need to fly. We can do this.
