We gave Red fish another try this year. We got snowed out last year in June. So this year we tried and tried and finally snagged spots for August at a campsite right on the beach, Outlet. We got a double spot and Jayli actually found it for us. Jake and I had been refreshing and unsuccessfully wasting our time on the website. Jayli came in and refreshed once and said, "oh here's a blue A" such a funny memory! That was in January! You have to reserve spots 6 months in advance. So we thought we were golden with a week in August. Wouldn't you know it we had a crazy drought all Summer and the week we are on our trip it rains half the time. :) It was still warm in the afternoons. A little chilly at night and in the mornings. On rainy days we just rode bikes or found something to explore.
We left home on Friday, July 31st after Jake finished work and drove to Burley. We had dinner and went to get a crepe and Kam's truck. In the morning grandpa made us breakfast. We watched the crop dusting planes fly right over grandma's house over and over. It was so close and loud! We stopped in Hailey and had some lunch and let the dogs run around. When we got to our spot we set up camp and the sun was out so we quickly put on our suits and enjoyed the last hour of sun for the day. The Lake is so clear and cold. The girls found a lillypad tied off and the owner said we could play on it. The next day was pretty rainy so we explored the fish hatchery and watched a movie in the camper. The Chlarsons came the 3rd day. We had hot sunny times on the beach and wet rainy bike rides on and off all week. Grandma Becky and Grandpa Leon came one day and tagged along. We took a ferry over to the other side of the lake and went on a hike. We an amazed how beautiful a sawtooth backdrop is. We took a picture in front of lillypad lake. We ate lots of yummy dinners and a lots of play time with our friends. Jake got to work on retrieving a lot with penny in the lake. The lodge was directly across the lake from our camp ground so a couple times in the middle of the day we'd pile as many kids on and put the rest in the pink kayaks and paddle board across for some ice cream. The last night we were there we sat in the natural hot springs in the river. So very cool how that hot water just come straight out of the mountain into that freezing river. We had pizza in Stanley after and listened to the live band. We packed up between rain storms Friday the 6th and had an easy ride home. Glad we had our bikes, our friends and a fun spot by the beach.
